Who We Are
Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church was organized in 1913, beginning with a small Sunday School class meeting in a member’s home. Since then, God has grown our church family into a vibrant community rooted in Dallas, Texas.
Our journey has included seasons of growth, moments of loss, and even a fire that damaged our building in 1992. Through it all, our church family has held on to one truth: God is faithful. We rebuilt, we grew, and today we continue moving forward in faith under the leadership of our current pastor, Rev. Ar’Jun Robinson, installed in June 2023.
Our Journey Through the Years
Join us as we reflect on the pivotal moments that have shaped our church’s legacy in Oak Cliff.

1913
Founding of Greater Emmanuel
In 1913, a small Sunday School class meeting in a member’s home grew into Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church, laying the foundation for a community of faith that still stands today.

1971
A New Season of Growth
Rev. Burley Hudson was called as pastor, arriving with a vision to lead the church “to higher ground.” Under his leadership, our membership grew, new ministries were formed, and the church set its sights on a bigger home.

1992
Tested by Fire, Strengthened in Faith
In the 1980s, we launched several outreach programs aimed at addressing the needs of our local community, including food drives and youth mentorship.

2023
A New Chapter Begins
Rev. Ar’Jun Robinson was installed as our pastor, bringing gifted, compassionate leadership into a new era for the Greater Emmanuel family.
Our Mission and Vision
The mission of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church is to carry out the Great Commission as given by our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ (“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen”) (Matthew 28:19-20).
We will fulfill this mission through Evangelism, Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Ministry.
The vision of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church is to be a community of followers of Jesus Christ, effectively reaching our local community and the world with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. We want to bring people to Jesus and membership in His family, train them for ministry in the Church, and equip them for a life mission in the world, all in order to magnify God’s name.
What We Believe
We are a New Testament church, an organized body of baptized believers, equal in rank and privilege, united under the headship of Christ. We covenant together to live out what He has taught and to work together in kingdom ministry.
We believe:
- Christ is the Head of the Church.
- Every member has a role and a purpose in the life of the church.
- Faith is lived out through fellowship, service, and discipleship.
Meet Our Pastor
On June 11, 2023, Rev. Ar’Jun Robinson was called and installed as the Pastor of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church. He leads our congregation alongside his wife, Sis. Cheryl Gibson Robinson, and their two children, Tye Justice and Kiaria Robinson. God has blessed our church family with a gifted and compassionate leader, and each year we celebrate his and his wife’s anniversary as pastor and first lady on the second Sunday in June.
“I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church family. I hope that you are as excited about being here as we are about having you. I trust that you might become involved in the life of this church, using your time, energy, talents, and resources to help advance the Kingdom of God.”
